Canomiks, 2023 ASP Annual Meeting
Canomiks’ CEO and cofounder, Leena Pradhan-Nabzdyk, Ph.D., MBA, was part of the “Recent Advances in Traditional Herbals – Quality/Authenticity and Analysis (Industry Perspective)” session on the final day of the 2023 American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) Annual Meeting.
Her presentation was titled: Canomiks’ National Science Foundation (NSF) funded solution: Standardization of the Biological Effect of Botanicals Using Genomics, Bioinformatics, and AI.
Canomiks’ solutions use AI to produce biological effect benchmark assay and score predictor software to determine the effectiveness and lead contamination of different commercial brands of curcumin.
She introduced Canomiks’ use of cutting-edge omics science and machine learning solutions that address the lack of standardization of the biological effect of herbal and botanical ingredients. Using a multiplex gene expression benchmark assay and an artificial intelligence (AI) based score predictor software, Canomiks’ software can score the ingredient’s effectiveness or contamination in human cell culture relative to the benchmarked gene expression of the analytical (USP grade) ingredient and/or the contaminants.
For developing the score predictor software, Canomiks uses AI technology. Based on the development of the curcumin benchmark, other traditional herbals will be added to the platform.
